I am using VMWare. Re: Longhorn stuck on activate windows screen. Post by SuperWaffle64 » Tue May 12, pm Time sync is off, but shouldn't the bios date do it? Post by anonymous74 » Tue May 12, pm Strange, installs fine on vmware for me. Make sure each time it reboots that the vmware bios date is set correctly, sometimes it resets on reboot. Post by SuperWaffle64 » Tue May 12, pm Looks like one of my applications really doesn't like the time changing. I checked the bios date while starting up, and it was correct. The screen is still appearing. Is there any way to access command prompt or taskmanager? BetaWiki contributor. Post by vlad » Tue May 12, pm Had a similar issue. Had to upgrade to that from a specific build, or else there will be either a registry corruption error or an LSASS crash. You may spend a lot of time on those as there are no pointers which build will work. Then copy in the copy from the archive below. Now restart your installation, and it should now no longer check the activation at logon.
This means you can move the date forward to the correct time. The second method is to replace it offline. This requires you to be able to connect the hard drive to a working PC, or if it is in a virtual machine, to mount the virtual drive either on your host operating system or in another virtual machine with a working Windows install. Once you have done this, you can simply navigate to that drives' System32 folder and drag-and-drop the winlogon.
