Websense unable to retrieve update list from server

On the Category Usage page, if you make more than 20 changes, the Confirm Information dialog box will run too long and force the buttons off the screen, making it impossible to confirm and close the dialog box. To work around this issue, divide your changes into multiple sessions.

This can cause the page to fail to load. The recommended browser to use in these configurations is Firefox. During installation, if your system has less than 4. After you upgrade to v7. A restart of Network Agent resolves this issue.

Other services may not start up. The workaround is to run the upgrade again. Rare issue: In a Web Security Gateway Anywhere hybrid deployment, Websense Sync Service is responsible for communication between the on-premises and hybrid services. In this rare case, restarting the service does not clear the alert message. This is a display issue. The service is running as expected. Investigative detail reports with the Bandwidth measure do not show "Total Bandwidth".

If you run the Websense uninstall script on a Linux server, to remove the Websense Squid plug-in, other Websense services on that same server may not restart. Server language is US English. I can't believe this is happening!!!

Is WSUS in working at all?!? I notice that it takes around 6 hours to finish the synchronization, please check if you select a lot of Products and select "Drivers" in "Classifications", it recommended to only select required products and not select "drivers" in "Products and Classifications";. Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help. If you have feedback for TechNet Subscriber Support, contact tnmff microsoft.

Now I made it the other way - first applied all available updates to the server, then joined it to our domain and finally installed WSUS role. The difference of this last install is that Updates lists are working normally, so I can search and approve updates. However synchronisation history still does not work and causes the same problems, as described in my previous post.

Thanks for suggestions. I'll increase IIS private memory as suggested. As for cleanup - this is new installation, there are still just a few test computers out of connected to WSUS, so it is still unknown what updates would be needed, no updates are approved nor declined and there are only 3 synchronisations so far I ran the cleanup, but it deleted only some expired revisions It was strange to me, but at this step I attempted to show synchronisation history and I suppose that the cleanup procedure not just deleted some updates but fixed something?!?

Then I deselected drivers category and some of products. As result respective updates have been declined automatically. Now I have declined of total updates. But they are still in the database. Websense Data Endpoint. Websense Web Endpoint. Remote Filtering Client. IP address or hostname : Provide the IP address or host name of the Data Security server that endpoint machines should use to retrieve initial profile and policy information.

Once configured, endpoints retrieve policy and profile updates from the endpoint server defined in their profiles. Receive automatic updates for Data Endpoint machines : When new versions of Data Endpoint are released, you may upgrade the software on each endpoint—this can be done via GPO or SMS—or you can configure automatic updates on this screen. Prepare a server with the latest updates on it see " Automatic Updates for Websense data endpoints " for details. Select Receive automatic updates for Data Endpoint machines.

Specify the URL of the server you created. It cannot be secure http https. Indicate how often you want endpoint machines to check for updates. Click Next and the Client Settings screen appears:. User interface mode. Interactive : A user interface is displayed on all endpoint machines. Users know when files have been contained and have the option to save them to an authorized location.

Stealth : The Websense Data Endpoint user interface is not displayed to the user. Note that reinstallation is required to switch user interface modes. Applies to Windows only. Select from the following 2 options:. Full : Installs the endpoint with full policy monitoring and blocking capabilities upon a policy breach. Endpoints that are installed in Full Mode require a reboot. Discovery Only installation does not require a reboot.

If you chose no other endpoints, skip to Global settings for instructions. Click Next to continue to the Save Installation Package screen. See Global settings for configuration instructions.

If you chose Remote Filtering Client, use the Internal Connections screen to list internal connection details for each Remote Filtering Server instance to which the clients will attempt to connect. Port : Internal communication port on the Remote Filtering Server that can be accessed only from inside the network firewall. This must be the same port entered in the Internal Communication Port field when this Remote Filtering Server was installed.

Because some machines, like laptops, may travel in and out of your organization's network, Remote Filtering Client uses this internal connection information to determine whether it is within or outside the network. This ensures that the machine is not double filtered by both internal Web Security components and remote filtering software. On the External Connections screen, provide external connection details for each Remote Filtering Server that may handle requests for Remote Filtering Client instances.

Port : Externally accessible port used to communicate with the primary Remote Filtering Server. This must match the external port number entered when installing the primary Remote Filtering Server. Clear the Log user Internet activity check box to avoid recording Internet request data for machines running Remote Filtering Client.

This is the information that Remote Filtering Client uses to pass Internet requests to Remote Filtering Server when the client machine endpoint device is outside the network.

The page displays a brief status message for example, "Reason: Invalid response from authentication gateway". This information will be useful if you need to contact Technical Support. See Failed Authentication page. Fallback authentication link is not visible on the SSO redirect page. If you are using dedicated ports, this is expected behavior. Authentication fallback is not supported for dedicated ports. If you are still experiencing issues, contact Forcepoint Technical Support.
